Barbara Bridger was born in 1947 in the North East of England and she moved to the South West in the late 1980s and taught devised and improvised theatre and performance writing at Dartington College of Arts. Her poetry and short prose has been published in a range of journals including Feminist Review, Stand, Leviathan Quarterly, Warwick Review, Tears in the Fence, Envoi and Quality Women’s Fiction. Most recently she was awarded Highly Commended in two categories of the 2023 King Lear Prizes, was shortlisted for the 2024 Oxford Flash Fiction Prize and a finalist in the 2024 London Independent Story Prize.
