Juan Carlos Abril was born in Los Villares, Jaén, Spain, 1974. Professor at the University of Granada, Spain, where he received his Master and Ph.D. degrees in Hispanic Philology, Theory of Literature, Comparative Literature and Romance Philology. He has taught courses, seminars and workshops on Contemporary Spanish and Spanish American Poetry in Spain, Italy, Tunisia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Ecuador, among others. He has resided for several years in England, as well as in French Provence, Milan, Rome, and Nicaragua. Critic, essayist and poet who has published several books. His poetry has been included in numerous anthologies, and translated into English, French, Italian and other languages. He is the current Literary Director of the Literary Journal Paraíso.
