Maria Koursi was born in Athens, where she also studied. She has published 18 books. Her poems have been translated in French, English, Italian and Spanish. She is a publications editor and she created the Literary Workshop of the Lycée Léonin, where she taught for ten years. She has represented Greece at international Poetry Festivals and at conferences concerning literature. Her poems have been set to music by Kostas Leivadas and have been performed by Dimitra Galani (“From Euripides to Maria Koursi” album). Her work is being taught at universities, and it has been anthologized in various books and journals in Greece and abroad. She is a member of the Hellenic Authors’ Society.
