Others’ memorials
In the rain of March the discords pledged the truth of the mist and the lies of the woods. Hymns of time, for next day’s despairs. Hubris in the everyday life of the diseased, death and its second life. It started pouring. The one climbing with him got lost in the darkness of the mountain. He disappeared looking for prickly bears of memorials with heroes’ names. Spring· Creation began to squeak. They were ready to turn back. He dragged him by his clothes, by his hair. He hurt him with monologues without parades and glorious anniversaries. He wanted to move ahead where the lumberjacks cut the bodies of time. He wanted to walk through the felled trees that smelt human. He wanted to pass by the rite of the descent of the horizon, where people with incandescent eyes obliterated the harmony of trees, animals, eagles, in a volcano of hatred for the ego, with slopes planted with logs and lumps of blood. The one climbing mount Tabor with him got lost, never found. The papers wrote of a hero, whereas he recalled hurting and dragging a man in the mist by his clothes, by his hair. He recalled a man screaming in fear in the darkness.

Στη βροχή του Μάρτη οι έριδες έταξαν την αλήθεια της ομίχλης και τα ψέματα του δάσους. Ύμνοι του χρόνου, για τις απελπισίες της επόμενης ημέρας. Ύβρεις στην καθημερινότητα των νοσούντων, ο θάνατος και η δεύτερη ζωή του. Άρχισε να βρέχει δυνατά. Ο άλλος που ανεβαίνανε μαζί χάθηκε στα σκοτεινά του όρους. Εξαφανίστηκε ψάχνοντας φραγκοσυκιές μνημείων με ονόματα ηρώων. Άνοιξη· η πλάση άρχισε να τρίζει. Ήταν έτοιμοι να γυρίσουν πίσω. Τον τραβούσε από τα ρούχα, από τα μαλλιά. Άρχισε να τον πονά με μονολόγους χωρίς παρελάσεις και ένδοξες επετείους. Να προχωρήσουν ήθελε μπροστά εκεί που έκοβαν οι ξυλοκόποι τα σώματα του χρόνου. Να διαβούν ήθελε τα κομμένα δένδρα που μύριζαν άνθρωπο. Να περάσουν από εκεί ήθελε στην τελετή αποκαθήλωσης του ορίζοντα, που άνθρωποι με μάτια πυρακτωμένα αφάνιζαν την αρμονία των δένδρων, των ζώων, των αετών, σ’ ένα ηφαίστειο μίσους για το εγώ με πλαγιές φυτεμένες κούτσουρα και σβώλους αίμα. Ο άλλος που ανέβαιναν μαζί στο όρος Θαβώρ χάθηκε, δεν βρέθηκε ποτέ. Οι εφημερίδες έγραψαν για ένα ήρωα, αυτός πάλι θυμόταν έναν άνθρωπο στην ομίχλη να τον πονά τραβώντας τον από τα ρούχα, από τα μαλλιά. Θυμόταν έναν άνθρωπο να ουρλιάζει από φόβο στο σκοτάδι.

Infirmary
I started writing about the lion and the little girl.
A tale of love at the big circus which burned to the ground in the coastal city of the Achaeans.
Since then the beasts became pets in gardens and yards, the tamers professional gardeners in flower fields with hornets and swarms of flying-cods. The girl suffered from depression, the lion from lack of audience and the tamer from loss of authority.
The town council announced the development of the first infirmary for those with happiness deficiency.
Physicians were appointed, all former confectioners, florists and fair vendors of colorful candies attached to wooden sticks.
The town council at the striped circus tent by consensus established the first school for the eyeless, who through the sounds of birds, quadrupeds and fish learnt about the world.
Αναρρωτήριο
Ξεκίνησα να γράφω για τον λέοντα και το κοριτσάκι.
Ένα παραμύθι για τον έρωτα στο μεγάλο τσίρκο που κάηκε ολοσχερώς στην παραλιακή πόλη των Αχαιών.
Έκτοτε τα θηρία έγιναν κατοικίδια σε κήπους και αυλές, οι θηριοδαμαστές έμμισθοι κηπουροί σ’ ανθώνες με σέρσεκες και σμήνη χελιδονόψαρων. Η μικρή έπασχε από κατάθλιψη, ο λέοντας από την έλλειψη κοινού και ο θηριοδαμαστής από την απώλεια της εξουσίας του.
Το δημοτικό συμβούλιο απεφάνθη για την λειτουργία του πρώτου αναρρωτηρίου για νοσούντες από την έλλειψη χαράς.
Όρισε τους θεράποντες, όλοι τους πρώην ζαχαροπλάστες, ανθοπώλες και πωλητές στα πανηγύρια ζαχαρωτών πολύχρωμων σε ξύλα στερεωμένα.
Με ομόφωνη απόφαση των δημοτικών συμβούλων στην ριγέ τέντα του τσίρκου, δημιουργήθηκε το πρώτο σχολείο για αόμματους, που με τους ήχους των πτηνών, των τετράποδων και των ψαριών μάθαιναν τον κόσμο.
The Poet
| Antonis D. Skiathas was born in Athens, 1960, and today lives in Patras, Greece. He studied Chemical Engineering and in Master’s programs for Art Work Conservation and also for Creative Writing. He is a poet, anthologist, and literary critic. Thirteen poetry collections, and other works of his, have been published. His poems have been translated into fifteen languages and he has been anthologized both within Greece and abroad. His articles and essays on poetry, history, and education have appeared in newspapers and periodicals. He is a member of the Writers Collaboration and the Circle of Poets. In the ’90s he co-edited the literary magazine Ελίτροχος. Subsequently he created and managed the Bureau of Poetry, the Jean Moréas awards, Culture Book (https://www.culturebook.gr/), and he is the chairman of the Greek Library of London. In 2020, the E.U.N.I.C.[1] honored him by appointing him representative poet of Greece in the United Kingdom. He teaches poetry in two different Master’s Programs for Creative Writing.[2] [3]

Σκιαθάς γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα το 1960 και σήμερα ζει στην Πάτρα. Σπούδασε Χημικός Μηχανικός με μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές στην Συντήρηση Έργων Τέχνης και στη Δημιουργική Γραφή. Είναι ποιητής, ανθολόγος και κριτικός λογοτεχνίας. Έχουν εκδοθεί 13 ποιητικές συλλογές και άλλα βιβλία του. Ποιήματά του έχουν μεταφραστεί σε 15 γλώσσες ενώ έχουν συμπεριληφθεί σε ανθολογίες στην Ελλάδα και στο εξωτερικό. Άρθρα και δοκίμιά του για την ποίηση, την ιστορία και την εκπαίδευση έχουν δημοσιευτεί σε εφημερίδες και περιοδικά. Είναι μέλος της Εταιρείας Συγγραφέων και του Κύκλου Ποιητών και πρόεδρος της Greek Library Of London. Συνδιηύθυνε το λογοτεχνικό περιοδικό “Ελίτροχος” στη δεκαετία του ’90. Στη συνέχεια δημιούργησε και διαχειρίζεται το “Γραφείον Ποιήσεως” , τα Βραβεία Ποίησης “Zαν Mορεάς” το Culture Book https://www.culturebook.gr/ και το Patras World Poetry Festival. Το 2020 τιμήθηκε από τον φορέα πολιτισμού στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση EUNIC, να εκπροσωπήσει την Ελλάδα ως ποιητής στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο. Διδάσκει ποίηση στο Διατμηματικό Μεταπτυχιακό Τμήμα Δημιουργικής Γραφής του Πανεπιστημίου Δυτικής Μακεδονίας και του ΑΠΘ. |
