Marija Dejanović lives between Zagreb, Croatia, and Larissa, Greece. She published 3 poetry books. Her poetry books and single poems won multiple national and international awards (Goran Award, Kvirin Award, Zdravko Pucak Award, DiBiase Poetry Award, Castello di Duino Award etc), and her theatre play has been awarded the biggest Croatian national award for playwriting, “Marin Držić”, awarded by the Ministry of Culture. Her third book, Kindness Separates Night from Day, was published in Croatia (Sandorf, 2021), Greece (Thraka, 2023), the USA (Sandorf Passage, 2023), North Macedonia (PNV Publikacii, 2023), and Serbia (Treći Trg, 2022). Selections of her poetry were published in Greece (Visible Bone, Poets’ Circle, 2021) and Germany (Gedichte, Hausacher LeseLenz, 2022).
Translated poems by the author were published in over 20 world languages.
She is a member of the Croatian Writers’ Society, Croatian PEN Centre, and Versopolis, one of the editors of Tema magazine, and assistant director of the Thessalian Poetry Festival. She works for the publishing house Thraka.
